Visioning seems to be one activity where Akshara can make significant contribution to the development of the NGOs working in the development sector. It seems that many NGOs started with an idea or over a difference in ideology/methodology, and over a period of time, the NGO starts working without giving much thought on to the purpose, core competencies and the “Why”. Visioning helps the group to become more focused, more committed as a group and also have a better clarity on the “Why”, or simply reinforces the Vision to the group. Visioning provides a sense of direction, better clarity and understanding as to why the NGO works/ should work on the issue. Akshara sees Visioning as an important activity in achieving its raison d’etre.
