Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty
Extended support to Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty in its World Bank supported District Poverty Initiatives Project (in AP) and AP Rural Poverty Reduction Project (spread over 864 mandals and coastal fishermen villages - 80% of rural Andhra Pradesh – with outreach of at least 31 lakh families) ((Feb’01-Jan’04) through Mr. G Muralidhar as its State Project Adviser (Livelihoods) with responsibilities for managing the Livelihoods Framework (for poor) and Rs 1,200 crore Community Investment Fund (CIF) including the Environment Management Framework).
 
Other key responsibilities included:

Competency-based Selection Process

Designing and Managing Traineeship for Young Development Professionals working with poor directly,
   
»
Conceptualizing and managing the Learning Programs for Livelihood Associates and
   
»
District Livelihood Resource Groups across the state
   
»
Nurturing the development professionals required for the two projects and
   
»
Extending strategic inputs and support for Project Management including building Systems, Processes, Mechanisms and Organization.
   
Apart from the above core responsibilities, his lead involvement has been in the following key strategic processes underway/completed:

Evolution of Cooperative Development Organisation(s) around the livelihood activities – consumption, labour/services and commodities – of the poor in Andhra Pradesh (established now)
   
»
Business Financing Support from Financial Institutions for the perspective (business) plans of the poor,
   
»
Co-nurturing the APLEAP (AP Livelihoods Enhancement Action Platform) processes
   
»
Operational Manual, Project Implementation Plan and the draft Project Appraisal Document relating to the Livelihoods of the Poor, Community Investment Fund and Environment Management Framework for the AP Rural Poverty Reduction Project including the studies related to it
   
»
Responsibility for the Mid-term Review of the Project and post-MTR processes (Sep’03-Jan’04)
   
»
Overseeing/leading Monitoring and Learning Function (Jun’03-Jan’04)
   
WEEM - IGK Project of UNIFEM-Kovel Foundation:
»
Process Support to WEEM-IGK Project of UNIFEM-Kovel Foundation.
   
»
Support in building MACS of the NTFP collectors to move the women, up the value-chain.
   
UNDP - Endogenous Tourism Project at Pochampally:
Associated with the UNDP and Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in their Endogenous Tourism Project site at Pochampally, to extend software support for enhancing the livelihoods of the poor.
