Early Prime (2007- )
Akshara is making a transition into its youth and early prime stage of its growth. Akshara is on top of the mind when someone looks for livelihoods Is (ideas, initiatives, interventions, individuals and institutions) and Ls (life, livelihoods, learning, love and leadership). At this point of significant shift, it is time to reflect, revisit the vision, and set up a new vision. It is time for consolidation, growth, and scaling-up. It is time for significant step scale-up. It is also time for empowered executive leadership.
We have been through a yearlong Social Impact Development Program for scaling-up and a robust comprehensive scaling-up plan for Akshara is now being taken forward. We have begun the practice of Let Go in Akshara.
Akshara has been/is at the fore front of the ‘future’ and the transitions towards the ‘future’ [These include Participation and Community-driven projects; SHGs and their federal structures; Micro-finance; Livelihoods; Collectives; Visioning for new context; Community Foundations; Movements for better Governance etc.]. Our initiatives focus on meeting the need for Livelihoods Support Individuals, Organizations and platforms at various levels, in addition to supporting various players in the livelihoods domain. Gradually, Akshara has become Akshara Network, true to its name, of its independent units, LSIs and LSOs. And Network itself has become a group of mentors, offering mentoring support for 5Is and 5Ls.
We need to consolidate and scale-up this.
